This Privacy Policy describes how Ardhanex Tech Pvt Ltd ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer of ChatKart ("the App"), collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you install and use the ChatKart application through the Shopify platform.
By installing or using ChatKart, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Shopify Store Data
When you install ChatKart, we access certain data from your Shopify store through the Shopify API, as authorized during the app installation process. This includes:
- Store profile information (store name, domain, contact email, address, currency, timezone)
- Product and catalog data (product titles, descriptions, images, prices, variants, inventory status)
- Order data (order details, order status, fulfillment information, transaction records)
- Customer data (customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, order history, and addresses as stored in your Shopify customer records)
- Storefront and theme data (for chat widget installation)
1.2 WhatsApp and Messaging Data
When you connect your WhatsApp Business Account to ChatKart, we process the following:
- WhatsApp Business Account identifiers and phone number information
- Message content sent and received through the ChatKart inbox (text messages, media, templates)
- Message delivery status and read receipts
- Customer phone numbers used in WhatsApp conversations
- WhatsApp message template content and approval status
1.3 Usage and Analytics Data
We collect data about how you use the App, including:
- App feature usage patterns and interaction data
- Campaign and broadcast performance metrics (delivery rates, read rates)
- Automation trigger and completion data
- Conversation volume and response time metrics
2. How We Use Your Data
- Core App Functionality: To enable WhatsApp messaging, order notifications, abandoned cart recovery, COD verification, broadcast campaigns, and all other features of the ChatKart platform.
- Order Synchronization: To sync order and fulfillment data between your Shopify store and WhatsApp messaging workflows.
- Customer Communication: To facilitate and deliver WhatsApp messages to your customers on your behalf, including automated messages triggered by order events and cart abandonment.
- Chat Widget: To display the WhatsApp chat widget on your storefront and route incoming conversations to your ChatKart inbox.
- Analytics and Reporting: To generate performance reports, conversation analytics, and campaign metrics for your dashboard.
- App Improvement: To improve the App's functionality, performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Customer Support: To respond to your support inquiries and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Compliance: To comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our terms of service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data or your customers' data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by reputable infrastructure providers. We implement the following security measures:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL (HTTPS).
- Database access is restricted and protected by authentication credentials.
- Application infrastructure is secured with firewalls and access controls.
- Administrative access to servers and data is limited to authorized personnel only.
- We conduct regular security reviews of our systems and practices.
While we implement commercially reasonable safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Shopify
ChatKart operates as a Shopify application and accesses your store data through the Shopify API in accordance with Shopify's API Terms of Service and Partner Program Agreement. Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
4.2 Meta / WhatsApp Business Platform
ChatKart uses the official WhatsApp Cloud API provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. to send and receive WhatsApp messages on your behalf. When you connect your WhatsApp Business Account, message data is processed through Meta's infrastructure. Your use of the WhatsApp Business Platform is subject to Meta's Business Terms, WhatsApp Business Terms of Service, and Meta's Privacy Policy.
We do not share your data with any third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the services described above.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your ChatKart account is active and the App remains installed on your Shopify store.
Upon App Uninstallation: When you uninstall ChatKart from your Shopify store, we will:
- Cease all access to your Shopify store data via the Shopify API.
- Delete your store data, customer data, order data, and conversation history from our systems within 30 days of uninstallation.
- Retain only such data as may be required by law or as anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you or your customers.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at support@chatkart.in. We will process your request within 30 days.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the following rights:
- Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time.

We comply with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks for customer data requests, customer data erasure, and shop data erasure.
7. Data Processing on Behalf of Merchants
When merchants use ChatKart to communicate with their customers via WhatsApp, we act as a data processor on behalf of the merchant (who is the data controller). Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their collection and use of customer data through ChatKart complies with applicable privacy laws.
8. Children's Privacy
ChatKart is a business-to-business service designed for use by Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by email. Your continued use of ChatKart after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
